some of it was great, some just a bit too silly. liked her characters--they had great potential but they could use more depth as could the plot. she has a way with words though.

Saved a scene worth noting

Oh.My.Friggin.Gods! I LOVE Lestat!!!! I had a pug once and I know exactly what they're like. The authors writing about him made me laugh so much that I had tears running.

Welcome to the world of ghosts and murder with lots of hilarious moments. It was definitely a page turner. I really look forward to reading the next book.

First booked I've picked up in a long time where I actually passed chapter 5. A nice, easy read, a little heavy on emphasising the quirkiness of the characters but all in all it got me out of a reading slump and for that I am grateful. Worth giving a light read if you need something like that. The story is entertaining.

*Note: The book was originally called Melody Bittersweet and the Girls’ Ghostbusting Agency

Synopsis: Melody Bittersweet sees dead people and is part of a family business Blithe Spirits on Chapelwick High Street.  She lives with her eccentric family: mother Silvana and gran Dicey.  Melody has decided to start her own little enterprise a ghostbusting agency to help people get rid of unwanted ghosts with her best friend Marina, new assistant Art Elliott and part-time and super efficient assistant Glenda Jackson.

I love the fun and colourful front cover, it has an interesting premise and starts off well with quirky characters and some funny lines and has some good ideas but for me I found it ran out of steam and to be honest at times I got a bit bored.  The description of an hilarious cozy mystery is overplayed there was an occasional laugh but to say it is hilarious is an exaggeration and the mystery - 3 brothers living in a big house one of whom murdered one of his siblings.  Melody has to solve the mystery for the brothers to find peace.  So it was a little paranormal, mystery with a dash of ‘romance’.

Be aware the book is peppered with pop culture references throughout which could be annoying if you don’t get them - which fortunately for me I did which surprised me!

Maybe I am just being grouchy and you have to be in the right mood and I just wasn't.  :(

I received a copy of this via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I am a big fan of the Bookouture authors I have read so far so was looking forward to this, and it did not disappoint!

Melody is a great central character, and all the other characters are brilliantly developed too. Melody and her families ability to see ghosts makes for an entertaining read, and the mystery throughout the book is intriguing.

A very entertaining and funny read, I look forward to reading more of Melody's adventures and more from the author.

Sometimes all a girl really needs is a little bit of light-hearted escapism and dammit Kitty French delivers that in style in The Skeletons of Scarborough House (The Chapelwick Mysteries Book 1).

Melody Bittersweet is the daughter and granddaughter of local mediums – Chapelwick’s real life answer to the movie ghost. Melody, too, shares this gift and decides it is about time for her to start using her god given abilities to help the lingering dead pass over.

She is not without competition in this area of business. In fact, she is fighting for a job against her ex – a man who has capitalised on his link to the deceased by getting himself a TV deal.

It is a race against time to see who can sort out the problem of lingering ghosts at Scarborough house.

I genuinely think it is a real skill to be able to write a book that you can get invested in but feel comforted when you turn the final page. Kitty French has done herself proud with the first in The Chapelwick Mysteries series.

The Skeletons of Scarborough House (The Chapelwick Mysteries Book 1) by Kitty French is available now.

*I've got this book from NetGalley in exchange of an honest review*

I won't wrap my words in to a cotton and will say straightly - I didn't like this book....like at all...

The story was lacking development from the beginning of the book and the writing style was sloppy and didn't captivated my attention. I was hoping that all of a sudden the story will get better and I will get into it, but it just went down the hill. In few words everything that happened in this book was all over the place

The main character Melody was annoying and acted like a child even though she was 27 year old woman. The company, that she tried to build with her best friend reminded me of a kindergarten. If for some reason I would have to deal with the agency like this, I would run screaming in the opposite direction.

I know it is a comedy or at least the author tried to write it like a comedy, but it wasn't funny for me at all.

Do not recommend.

Fun, cute, paranormal read.
