In between descriptions of pasta and sauces and his rather pedestrian frustrations with air travel (I was travelling while listening to much of this, and at times I felt like saying "sir, I know, please return to eating") Tucci shares some profound and true things about family. For this reason I love this book. Relaxing, hunger inducing and pleasing.

At first this was boring and I paused in favor of something more interesting, but I’m glad I listened all the way through in the end. He’s charming and his love for family and food is endearing. I don’t know much about Stanley Tucci, but after reading the book he feels like someone I would gladly sit down and eat a bowl of pasta with.

I want to be this man in my next life. His dry humor, sarcasm and whit made this book. Not only is it read by him, but you get a taste of who he is as a person. He doesn't pull any punches, but I think that's what makes him so endearing. He shares his stories and his day to day life while being personable to the public. He loves his family the same way I do, he enjoys food and how it connects people. He gets annoyed by people how have no common sense just like I do and he shares it in a way that had me cackling a couple times. What a wonderful book and ode to food
stanley tucci is great, but this book wasn't for me. the book was a nice idea in theory, but the execution of it was seven hours of stanley complaining about 90% of the restaurants he visited, ranting about flights, airport staff, and general people he crossed paths with, and making the same pasta recipes. not what i expected after i loved his last book so much! it was (as an audiobook, anyways!) a mundane and unenthusiastically-read diary, with frequent persnickety comments that made it impossible for me to not roll my eyes. a shame though; he has such an interesting group of people around him that he is always hosting, this could have been something really special!
Enjoyed this so much. Food, wine, travel and a year in the life of Stanley Tucci!

Maybe I should have listened to his memoir first. But this food diary was so slow and boring. I didn’t like the jabs at his wife (even if was supposed to be sarcastic or funny). I guess I didn’t get to the parts where he was joking that she may have cheated on him. Which is wild because that’s exactly what he did when he cheated on his first wife (may she rest in peace) with Edie Falco.
In conclusion, I’ll still watch his movies, but will never read his books.
