Challenged myself to read this in a day and succeeded!
Reading this after watching the film years ago I felt as if the characters in the book were a lot more nuanced. Little personality quirks and flaws were explored more and I liked the family dynamics. Was definitely not rooting for either of the guys in the love triangle by the end though. Jean Lara ending up with Josh would not be fair to Margot but Peter is not a good match for her - they fight all the time and the little things they do annoy each other. Can’t remember the second and third movies but hoping John Ambrose McClaren comes through clutch.
god i forget how good this is. yes, the movie is a perfect romcom and so is the book, but even better, it's a family story lead by the senses of food. perfect light reread.
soooo good! definitely should read before watching the movie. josh is less of a douchbag in the books
The book is cute and has its funny lines that made giggle at some points. Tho I didn't enjoy some of the interaction between characters and the fact that there was not a proper ending to fill my soul.
JENNY HAN, I LOVE YOU. Such a cute, fun, YA contemporary novel. It was light (some have called it "fluff"), but I also found it to be well written and plotted, I loved the storyline and characters, and I could not put it down and stayed up until 2AM to finish it last night. So adorable. I loved Lara Jean, her sisters, and of course ... PETER K.

The premise is cute and clever and I wasn't expecting to enjoy it or like it as much as I did. Even though I did enjoy the romance, Lara Jean's relationship with her two sisters was probably my favorite part of the book and I could so clearly imagine their lives at home. I laughed out loud several times, but I definitely think there were some wonderful more serious moments, too.
I've wondered why my students who read this book were upset by the ending, and now I understand. But, now that the sequel is out, I was able to just jump right in without any concerns or frustrations. If I didn't have that, I'm sure I would have definitely also been clamoring for more. What a perfect cute, light, well-written YA novel for the summer. Yay!
