This book is everything the cover claims it is.

Acquiring the film rights to this book would be a sound investment, as proven by me being the first in line to purchase a ticket & popcorn at the cinema when it premieres.

Meh

I really enjoyed this book and it had me gripped to see how it was going to play out. This book was so well written with descriptions and scenes that it felt like I had a film in my head.
I would of given this 5 stars but I felt like it was a bit slow in places but I was expecting more of a fast paced thriller where I’d say this was thriller/ action. I think the pace suited the book as i think there would be lots of details left out otherwise.
Some good twists and turns in this and just enough put in each chapter to keep you wanting to read on
adventurous tense medium-paced

My expectations for this one were sky high having read and loved “Drowning” previously. Unfortunately, that’s rarely a great prediction for my reading experience.

This one felt really visceral and dramatic in an almost cliche way; Middle-Eastern terrorists, a wife and children in danger, and a white, cis-het male pilot charged with saving the day. I appreciated the perspective Newman added to the hijackers’ motivation, and the comradery and leadership of the flight attendants was a highlight for me.

However, this felt like a good debut compared to her second book, which was more emotional and creative. A good but not great read for me. I would still read more from her though.

Not my usual kind of read. I disliked this book on many levels but it was fast paced and easy to read and I finished it so can't have been that bad.

Thanks to Netgalley for free early access to this book in exchange for an honest review. I requested this book because the sypnosis about a plane hijacking sounded exciting and I like supporting debut female authors.

I'd describe the book as Grey's Anatomy but aviation so whether you'd enjoy it depends if you like Grey's Anatomy. I do. It's an engaging read that I finished in a day. There are some pacing issues where some parts are really exciting, anxiety-provoking, and fast-paced mixed in with some dull, redundant sections that ruined the flow. The opening chapter was also unnecessarily gory and felt like a cheap start. The good plot twists and some great side characters made up for it. The author worked in the aviation industry so the book gives a nice peek behind the scenes.

Overall, it is a good debut novel with lovely themes of empathy, friendship, bravery, and the luxury of choosing to be good that not everyone has. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

A page turner, but old fashioned storytelling, the plot could have been written in the 70s. Set in US which never really appeals to me. It’ll be a good beach read.

Five stars! What a fun ride! Pilot Bill Hoffman is called in at the last minute to fly from Los Angeles to New York. He is quickly alerted that his family has been kidnapped. The kidnapper has given him an ultimatum to either crash the plane or he will kill his family. Will he choose to save his family or the plane full of passengers? The book starts off pretty quickly. I loved the fast pace and short chapters. Someone please make this into a movie! Thanks to Simon & Schuster and Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
