This book reads like a car chase on steroids or more specifically on a plane.
Hard to believe but also hard to put down at the end during the crazy climax.

This was an intense, anxiety inducing “movie in in my head” kind of experience.
Overall, this is an exciting well written thriller that will have you perched on the edge of your seat. A major plus is the authors flight attendant experience which gives a feeling of authenticity to the storyline.
I recommend but dont read any of TJ Newman's books before you get on a plane or are on a plane wanting to read her books

Absolutely loved this book!! Definitely a page turner, with incredible suspense all. the. way. through. I especially loved reading from the flight attendants perspectives, they were definitely my favorite characters, along with Carrie. All the characters felt fleshed out and alive, and I couldn’t stop reading. Loved the different perspectives, although it would have been awesome to have a POV of a passenger as well. However, it all felt very realistic in my opinion, having been on hundreds of planes throughout my life I believed that a situation like this could play out like it did, and I loved that. Credible is the word I’m looking for :) loved the little peek behind the curtain of flight attendants and how it all works, having been only a passenger I’ve never gotten any inside scoop before, and it was so cool getting little pieces. I have so much more respect and admiration for flight attendants now than I did before reading this, and that is a lot more than I could have asked for.
Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb fun, which was exactly what I have been in the mood for. Written by an ex-flight attendant, it has an inside baseball view of commercial airlines and their flight crews. Newman also proves that the women’s movement has come so far that women can ALSO write like middle-aged men.
The basic plot (and there's not much more plot than this) is that a terrorist is holding pilot Bill Hoffman's family hostage. Bill must either crash the plane he is flying into a target in DC (even though it's an LAX-JFK flight...) or the terrorist will kill Bill's family.
This hits every action hero trope in the book, from the all-American True Blue hero (Pilot Bill), to the Cool Girl perfect wife (pilot Bill’s wife, who is stoic when it’s badass and fusses and cries when that's more attractive) to the adorable young son and cherubic baby daughter. Then there’s the sassy and competent flight attendants (Jo and Big Daddy), the maverick FBI agent whose instincts are nonetheless impeccable (Jo’s nephew, Theo), and the cliched villain (who force Bill into a real-life Trolley Problem for...some reason...that involves vengeance on Americans for Middle East violence).
It is so formulaic, it is clearly coming to a screen near you (yes, the film rights have already been optioned). There were also moments of what (I assume) were unintentional hilarity. I cannot stop laughing about Bill's wife - who is told repeatedly by the terrorist that he blames America for not stopping violence against Kurds - including the deaths of his family- and even offers to let her go if she can find Kurdistan on the map. She then later misidentifies a terrorist as Syrian. AHAHAHA is she that much of a dimwit or was she not paying attention to any of his rants? The terrorist can't even get her to care about the Kurds with a gun to her head.
This is silly, stupid fun, perfect for summer.
3.5 stars rounded up for sheer mindless entertainment.

Good for a thriller - not my preferred book genre, but it was exciting.
