I really liked this book. Coming from an evangelical background, this gave me a lot to reflect on in terms of breaking down my own faith to learn which parts were toxic and which weren’t, and how to move forward.

This book was very unique to what I've read before about cults, as I've never read a first-person account of a child who was born into the cult. I thought this gave a very interesting perspective of someone in the different stages of their life as the cult controlled their view of the world.

It was also super interesting to me that Faith hadn't been to the U.S. until she was older and then she didn't have a good grasp on the culture in America. I would have thought that they would have ended up in the U.S. more often since they're American but that added an interesting new perspective that I wasn't aware of.

If you're interested in cults, this is a super interesting read that I think you'd enjoy! This book has some serious trigger warnings that I've listed below. I would reference StoryGraph for all of the trigger warnings prior to digging into this one.
