This was the weirdest book I’ve read so far. It was completely in the narrators perspective and had hardly any insight into the characters thoughts or emotions at all. Aside from the mention of “she felt this way” kind of narration, it was bland and boring. I only finished because I don’t want to be a quitter but it was hard. It wasn’t a book I was excited to get back to.

I like that this was a different total perspective and story being told.

Royal is just another example of the epic detail and research that Danielle Steel delivers in all her novels. I absolutely loved this book. I fell for the characters and cried with them too.
Charlotte is the youngest of three girls to the king and queen of England. She is sent to the country to live out the war days with a family. She is expected to keep a low profile and only her hosts know her true title. While there she meets and falls for their son Henry. There love story follows but they king and queen know nothing about their daughters epic romance.
If highly recommend you pick this book up and read it for yourself. It's a masterpiece.

Royal by Danielle Steel
1934 and Charlotte the youngest of the princesses is being sent, with her horse to stay with an older couple in the country.
That will keep her safe from the war bombings and due to her asthma. The couple have a boy her age, who plans to enlist in the army soon, and another lady stays with them as well to help them with chores.
The older princesses are able to do things useful for the country.
Her name will be different also and she is so sad to be leaving. She falls in love and they get married and have the baby while he serves the country.
Unimagineable things occur and Lucy, the orphan who helps out the couple ends up with the baby and she knows who the parents were from letters Charlotte had kept.
Everybody dies and she takes the baby and makes a new life for herself in a new location. She falls in love and they marry and she has twins-her first REAL birth and she needs to keep the secret about the first babys identity to herself.
At some point they could be sitting on the throne ruling over the country...she has plans to get money out of them to live in high style.
Love parts where the royals look over the box of letters and other information and gather her into the folds of their family. She takes a job at the stables, her favorite spot to be and is able to become a jockey, her life dream.
She had to give up her boyfriend though, it was either the jockey position or him.
Sad book at times but you can also see just how strong she really is.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

I think this just felt a bit rushed for me but I liked it overall. I think more could’ve been done to explore the context more. Also, I wasn’t a fan of the ending.

I was driven insane by how many times the entire premise of the story was repeated. She recapped no less than 50 times, I’m not even joking. I only finished it because I couldn’t return it, but I found myself rolling my eyes constantly. The story had a lot of potential, it was just extremely poorly executed. I

I keep giving DS another chance, based on her early work. However, I truly think she is using so much “filler” in her writing these days that she takes a novella and stretches it to 300 pages for a high-page count payment on her ebook sales. Repetitious, elementary style writing that got very boring, and often full of flaws...it makes me sad to see what her writing has become. This one had a great premise, it was just so poorly written.
