Zaira's journey in this book was by far my favourite part. I love moments where typically closed-off characters have moments of honesty and vulnerability
so the scene with Zaira and Amalia with the Lady of Spiders
was so much fun to read.

There should have been more Kathe. I'll never get enough of his character. I would honestly love to read an entire series just about him.

Amalia came into her own in this book and I loved seeing her grow and learn when she should intervene and when she should trust whoever to do what needs to be done.

The ending, however, was a bit disappointing and anti-climactic. It's not as though I was expecting a huge, drawn-out battle between Amalia/Zaira/Kathe and Ruven but I was expecting a little more of something

All in all, it wasn't a bad book or a bad ending to the trilogy, I just think it could've gone in a different direction or handled some plot lines differently and I would've rated it higher.

Oh my gosh and golly! I had to read this book in instalments, because the tension at times was unbearable. Melissa Caruso is an able storyteller with convincing characters, plausible narratives and a goodly mix of action, romance and intrigue. I can't recommend the trilogy highly enough.
Now I'm off to re-read the first two novels of the Rooks and Ruin trilogy again and wait with bated breath for The Ivory Tomb!

This was SO GOOD!! Each book in the series just keeps getting better and better. This was a great read and a fantastic conclusion to the trilogy. I can’t wait to read more of Melissa Caruso’s books!

I love this series so much. The author takes advantage of a slower pace to build a tense and uneasy ceasefire between warring clans, leading to an explosive finale. The characters remain complex and fascinating, and I can't wait to see where the author takes them next.

The first two are still my favorite but I thought this was a great third book in this series
