A roman-style empire finds out about a part of the world it never knew about and thus must conquer. Both Tariyana and Marcus are at the Empire’s mercy, but also enemies.
Love me some enemies-to-lovers and this one didn’t disappoint.
Marcus’ story reminds me a bit of Maxantarius from War of Lost Hearts. Both are battle-scarred and have deep remorse for what they’ve done.
I’m curious how this will resolve because I don’t see how it can end well!
