Blood Games (****) ->
Spoilercustodes breaking in the palace in terra to test defences. later on infiltrating a place in brazil and discovering a double-spy.

Wolf at the Door (***) ->
Spoilerold space wolves going to a planet to bring it into compliance but dark eldar are raiding the planet every x years. save the planet but end up exterminating everyone anyway because the do not want to join the imperium.

Scions of the Storm (***) ->
Spoilerword bearers exterminate a world instead of bringing them into compliance though/because the people believed in the god-emperor. Lots of bolter porn.

The Voice (****) ->
Spoilersisters of silence (including a novitiate) investigate a black ship that disappeared in the warp. Psykers onboard formed one abomination that turned out to be the novitiate from the future with a warning. The others sisters kill her.

Call of the Lion (**) ->
Spoilerdark angels argueing if they should destroy a solar system (caladan DA) or bring them in compliance peacefully (terran DA). Boring drab.

The Last Church (*****) ->
Spoileremperor visits the last church on terra and debates religion with the priest before burning the place down

After Desh'ea (**) ->
SpoilerKhârn meeting Angron for the first time. Angron angry. Angron beat chest. Angron punch, murder, death, kill. (Me yawn. Me fall asleep. Angron is so fucking one-dimensional and the most boring primarch.)

This has one of my favourite stories in it and one that made me fell in love with the grim dark of the far future.
The last church is sublime story telling that is just such a nice calm but foreboding story. A brilliant change of base from the constant galactic battles and a more grounded view, not unlike another short story.
Not to take away from the other short stories contained, which are also cool and fun one shots and fill ins for gaps around the vast universe, but some are definitely stronger then others.

Great, varied assortment of short stories. Especially love the one about a given faction finding it's Primarch.

This was the first warhammer book I ever read:)
To me "Wolf at the Door, Blood Games, The Voice" get about 4 stars.
They where exciting and a fun read.
"The Dash'ea and The Sicon of the Storm" (hope I got the names right)Where both a fair read at about 3 stars, The Dash'ea was more interesting then exciting. The Sicon of the Storm was interesting but it reminds me how I trurly hate the Emporer and that he needs to die!
"The Last Church" 5 stars. An amazing story that had me on the edge of my seat the whole book! From the begening to the end it had me going and is possible one of my favorite storys of all time.
