I love this book so much. But first, a trigger warning. The female MC is a journalist who is writing an investigative article about a sexual assault scandal at a club. OK, now back to business. A lot of bad things came out of the pandemic, but this book was one of the VERY good things. It's spicy. It's sweet. The pace never slowed. It didn't get bogged down in the conflict between the MCs. And because it starts off with a bang (a one night stand), I didn't have to read 200 pages of slow burn for the MCs to get together. So reader, if that's not your thing, don't come here to yuk on this book because it doesn't have your favorite romance tropes. As for me, tonight I'm going to dream about Alexander Kim and his luscious lips.

Good gravy, I’m pretty sure my kindle melted! This was scorchingly steamy in ridiculously romantic way. Alec Kim is a total freaking dreamboat.

I absolutely devoured this one!! I loved knowing that #IvyOwens is one half of #ChristinaLauren ! This was a super easy-to-read romance but I also liked the storyline behind the "scandal". It felt like there was more to the book outside of just the romance piece. My only issue was (believe it or not) a bit TOO much sex 🤣 Like I'm sorry but you break up and instead of having a romantic, heartfelt makeup, you just fuck? Just a tad hard to believe but I still overall had a blast reading this.🤍

This was just what the doctor ordered.

I came across this book at my local library and immediately fell in love with the flow of the prose in this text. I fell in love with both Alec and Gigi almost instantaneously. This writer knows how to make chemistry seep off every work on the page. I loved reading about Alec and Gigi's whirlwind romance. If that was what you came for, then you came to the right place.

That being said
if you were looking for more commentary on the sex scandal that Gigi was writing up as a journalist in this story, you're going to be pretty disappointed. With the premise hinging on very real issues in the entertainment industry, I felt like the tension that could come from that was sorely lacking. Once it all starts coming to a head towards the end of the story, it felt very sudden because it seemed like background noise to the main event (Alec and Gigi getting together). I also felt like the plotline of Sunny going in to clear Alec's name needed a lot more room to breathe than we got here. And finally, the epilogue felt unnecessarily tacked on, even though it was nice to know that Gigi and Alec did become a long-term thing.

If you're looking for extra spicy romance between childhood friends (and one of them being a famous actor), look no further. If you're looking for serious commentary within a romance about a difficult and pervasive subject, look elsewhere.
