Experiencing the narrative from Sieh's perspective was exciting, as previously he has only been observed by characters who perceive him as a child - being the God of childhood, he has an image to maintain. But this is a God of childhood who is untold millenia old, and his very nature is threatened as secrets from this long past begin to emerge. What follows is both tragic and gratifying as Sieh comes to grasp the gravity of what it means to grow up.
I would highly recommend this trilogy to anyone who loves fantasy, especially fantasy that revolves around pantheons and magic. Sieh is but one of a cast of many rich and nuanced characters, and his story kept me gripped through to the end.
Moderate: Body horror, Violence, and Gore
Minor: Incest, Rape, Pedophilia, Slavery, Death of parent, Child death, and Death

This entire series I just want to bonk the author and characters and send them to horny jail. Like I’m concerned with these relationships in each book...
And
Anyway, you will be entertained that’s for sure.

In an atmosphere taut with jealousy, past hurts, healing families, new and broken friendships, Jemisin inserts political machinations, an intriguing and frightening magical threat, changing physiologies and so much more.
It is impossible to miss the depth that she infuses into her worlds, they're never just about the fantastical, imaginative, and powerful; they always entwine themes of home, selfhood, place, society and the allure, grandeur, flaws and the grotesque that comes with being and existing.
Exploring individuality, nature, and how those can be shaped, formed, and changed by our experiences, by the people we interact with and the situations that inform our perceptions.
Sex, desire, and sensuality in all its forms and circumstances is also a topic that Jemisin handles well, she gives just enough that you feel that tug, the yearning and powerful reactions of the characters.
Minor: Violence
