The storytelling is phenomenal! It reads like movie that plays out in your mind.

I was in the mood for a thriller to get me out of my reading slump and this book DELIVERED. 

This book reminded me a lot of the show True Detective (the first season with Matthew McConaughey) in terms of the nature of the killer. 

Taking a fast-paced serial killer mystery, combined with the stark and poignant commentary on pervasive racism in the Deep South, made for an excellent book that is impossible to put down even as it makes your stomach turn with the cruelty of it all.

This is a dark and heavy read, but incredible characters and worth a read for those who are up for it.
