Gripping!!!! Would have given it a 5, but they didn't address something at the end and I didn't like that.

Someone once said on booktok that SA Cosby “doesn’t write, he makes movies.” If that isn’t the truth I don’t know what is. This book felt like I was watching a movie every time I opened the cover! My goodness what writing, what a gift this man has. When I tell you this book had me feeling like I was reading something psychological with the vibes of “Silence of the Lambs” I am telling you the truth!

Titus (the main character) is a police officer with a background in the FBI with a few little secrets to his life.
Going back to his childhood home and working as the sheriff in his small town of Virginia is going semi well for him until a well known teacher (whom everyone loves) turns up dead in a school shooting along with a troubled past student. From there things keep getting more and more sinister, kids showing up dead, a serial killer on the loose. Cosby paints a great picture of sinister acts, family history, and the lengths one goes in day to day life to deal with the demons in our mind.

I really enjoyed Titus’s character and his fathers as well. I kept wanting more and more and it didn’t let up until the very end. I will be reading more SA Cosby immediately!

Simply no one is doing thrillers like Cosby. I think they’re just interesting and surprising and have an extra layer to them that so many other thrillers fail to have or fail to do well. The characters are human. The book/plots make points without hitting you over the head with it (because all the characters are complex, no one is just good or bad nor is any choice necessarily the fully right or wrong one). I just respect it and I’ll keep picking them up as long as he’s writing.
