This book was something else. Definitely took me for a ride. I loved Eden and how badass she could be even when she was scared. Linc is a protective guard dog with a vulnerable and sweet side. The attraction between the two is almost instantaneous. Eden brings a sense of compassion and kindness that rivals Linc's cynical monster within him. But opposites attract. This book has banter, suspense, romance, and spice, and I am here for it.

First Romance book for me but with just the right amount of plot to make it an easy read. Thoroughly enjoyed my time with the main characters. Looking forward to read more of this series.

I had such a fun time reading this book! This was my first ever mafia romance book and I have to say, I loved every page of it! Kay Cove does this sub genre in such a clever way, that it truly made me want to pick up the rest of the series as she writes it, as well as many other books in this genre!
I was not sure how I would feel about this genre, but I realize now that I absolutely LOVE it and will devour lots more of these books. The touch her and die vibes? Immaculate. There is truly nothing better to me than getting to see a strong and intense man be willing to share his intimate and vulnerable pieces of himself with the girl he loves. Precious, baby, good girl? Give me ALL the pet names, please and thank you.
Going off of that, Linc and Eden's romance was incredible. I loved the way that Kay set up their romance and had me screaming for them to get together. She paces their romance in the perfect timing, not making it too rushed or slow. It genuinely felt so natural and true to how these characters would actually fall in love.
I also loved the whole plot, conflict, and element of PALADIN in the book. I found it super interesting and intriguing. It genuinely had me wanting to keep reading and learn more about PALADIN and what was going to happen. The whole plot point of Eden and Empress was also super entertaining. This book really had it all - the plot, the conflict, the romance, the very well-executed smut, and great character development.
I genuinely really enjoyed seeing Linc and Eden fall in love and how protective that Linc was. It was the best to see him do everything in his capacity to keep Eden safe.
In the end, I absolutely devoured this book and it was so much fun to read. Although it was a darker romance, the humor and the way it was executed made it so digestible and such a fun read. I never felt like the content was too heavy or overwhelming for me to read. I will definitely be reading Tattletale and everything else that Kay Cove writes from now on! I rate this book 5/5 stars! 🌟
