The only reason this book came on my radar was because of the Netflix TV show. I prefer my psycho thrillers to be more thriller and less psycho. But unfortunately, You was far more of psycho and too less of thriller. I usually keep the books I read in my collection, but I put up this books for sale on Facebook almost immediately after finishing it. Thanks to the hype build by the tv show, I was able to sell my copy to a fan of the Netflix show at about 2/3rd of the price I paid for this book.

The audio book narrator was amazing (Santino Fontana), which bumped the book from 2 to 3 stars. I was giving it 2 stars mainly because things resolve in too tidy a manner for the type of story it is. I also didn't like Joe's repetitive style of speech. None of the characters were likeable so I didn't care about any of their fates (same as Girl on a Train). Now that I think about it, maybe that is a deeper intended or unintended message by the author...? The details were sufficiently creepy and made me feel like a shameful voyeur. The author showed me that we all have a little bit of Joe in us, which is frightening in itself. I'm going to read the sequel "Hidden Bodies" purely because the ending found a way to ignite my interest in the fate of one of the characters.

The ratings on here make sense. They are all very “meh” about this book, and it is completely justified. To be honest, I picked up this book because I work at a library and saw that it was being turned into a TV show.
I haven’t read a book from a stalker’s point of view before. It was INCREDIBLY difficult to finish. It was a lot of being in Joe’s head and I found it hard to follow his train of thought. Almost every page of this book is told in Joe’s thoughts.
Beck was insufferable. I know people aren’t perfect, but Jesus Christ, I hated her for every second of this book. She was an asshole to Joe (even though he is a crazy stalker but she didn’t know that), ditching him and not being honest with him ever. She did some really screwed up things.
I really really wanted to stop reading this book about halfway through, but I told myself to finish. It was an interesting read. I wouldn’t recommend it in the future however. Something just never clicked with me and I’m wondering if that was the whole point to this book. That we would never feel comfortable or satisfied at the end. Maybe I’m being harsh, but that’s just my opinion. I did like the book. I just didn’t LOVE it.

A well-executed "patriarchy but make it chilling," thriller.

This book follows Joe, a seemingly nice and innocent bookstore employee who takes a special interest in aspiring writer Beck when she crosses his path. Able to access her social media accounts, he quickly and invisibly begins to take control of her life, planning a series of run ins until he becomes a fixture in her life...
I absolutely HAD to pick this one up after devouring the show on Netflix. Seeing the themes and elements of my favorite thrillers through another perspective was fascinating and made for an engaging and addictive read
