Arrogant, annoying, pompous.

I don’t often assume bad writers are bad people but after reading both this and The Silent Patient, I believe AM is a deeply flawed person if this is the only type of man he can write.

I feel deserving of recognition for managing to devour this book in two days despite the weirdly slow pacing. I came for the Greek island setting and the locked-room mystery, but was turned off by the “unreliable narrator” (who is really just a theater kid with a terrible writing style). I get that his shitty dialogue and unrealistic omniscience were probably meant to contribute to Elliot’s character, but this seems like kind of a strange choice for the narrator since it resulted in the entire book being deliberately poorly written.
