it wasn't quite as good as I'll give you the sun but I still devoured it and cried multiple times

This is a heartrending book about loss. The romance aspect was all YA, but the depiction of someone loosing the person closest to them is all too mature. It is beautifully written and still feels raw and honest. I am not usually one for poetry or quotes at the beginning of chapters, but the poetry in this book was lovely and definitely worth lingering over. Even in the prose you can tell the author is a poet.

Thank you Amy for the great recommendation. I recommend it as well!

I loved the characters, but the love triangle in the book made me uncomfy. I understand people do things in grief that can’t be explained, but it still made me uncomfortable and ruined most of the book for me. I also didn’t find the love triangle necessary in this book. Make it a book about grief and finding love while grieving without that extra person and it would’ve been a much more enjoyable read!

- not bad but not good either
- very predictable from the beginning to the end
- repetitive, that’s how grief is like but the way that it was portrayed in the book can feel boring so easily
- overall an entertaining story
- something to read when you have no other books
