Recommended if you loved TJ Klune's Wolfsong and Sarah J Maas' A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Ben Alderson has managed to create a magnificent world ... or rather, two worlds in conflict with each other, with a simple and original magical system. The final cliffhanger immediately makes you want to read the sequel, which I will do.

However, there are some small typos.
For example, King Thallon in the last chapters becomes King Thallan or Erix who is Gideon on the back cover.
Small oversights which, however, do not spoil the reading at all!

Best quote: Anything left forgotten for long enough becomes a monster. But monsters can always be slain.

good god this was not an enjoyable read. very amateur writing, lot of inconsistencies narratively, and the plot was so, so predictable. if i'm being honest i was only really here for the romance, and even the enjoyable sexual tension wouldn't make this book worth it for me to read the sequel.
