this book is like a hug
or a bedtime story
it’s nurturing and nourishing
warning it is a lot of plants
but I loved the reflections on native spirituality
skywoman, her daughter’s death, the plants that were born out of her body
the strawbabies 🍓
the prayer of thanksgiving and the virtue of gratitude is a life changing disposition
to thank the earth for everything bc it all is a gift
tbh the windigo is a great piece of lore for self-reflection; we are all capable of becoming a selfish, gluttonous monster
it’s a reminder to learn more about native history and native stories

If I was a premed student and my plant science prof made me go camping with the class for the weekend I would be soooo pissed

I learned more from this book than from my bachelors degree in conservation. I cried basically every single time I opened it. Required reading. I am so lucky and glad that I was able to read this. Bro this book feeds the part of my soul that I often feel crazy for having.
