This book aims to explain a bunch of rather complex concepts not only in layman's terms but also in an interesting way and it definitely succeeds. There are so many ways that humans, as a system, are broken or just ill-designed. While Lents admits his book doesn't cover every single flaw in the human design (the book is under 300 pages after all), it does present some really interesting ones, along with theories about why we have evolved this way and how science is helping humans thrive, despite all our flaws. For the most part, this book is about biology, as one would expect. But it also touches on psychology, anthropology/sociology, and even the space sciences. I learned sooo much about so many different things, perhaps most importantly, nutrition. I don't think it was Lents's intention to give a crash course on micronutrition in the second chapter of this book but as a human who eats, I found it really helpful to learn about things my body needs that no one else never told me about!
Overall, this book was an enjoyable look at how inefficiently humans are designed and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know more about the human body, human evolution, and "human errors".
