Really cute book about a 12 year old girl who applies for the job of the magical leader at a castle and her trials and tribulations in keeping said job. This book has several pretty amazing characters, is very well-written, and I think our kids will enjoy it very much.

I asked Colleen (age 7) if she wanted to say anything about this in a review, and she said "Yes, it was very good, and I want to read a sequel... is there a sequel?!?"

Fun stuff.

Wow I haven't been sad a book ended in a while. I wish there was a sequel! The book wrapped up nicely and it doesn't need one or anything, I just can't get enough of Molly and Castle Hangnail, and I think there is plenty that could be written.

I will eventually run out of Ursula Vernon books to read. And that will be a very sad day.

Castle Hangnail is the cutest story about a little girl who wants to be a Wicked Witch, but not evil, there is a difference. So when the local Sorceress who's just older than her throws out her invitation to rule a small castle as Master, 12 year old Molly pulls it out, shows up, and is adorable with these adorable minions who need a Master. There's Majordomo the Igor/Frankenstein Monster combo, Cook and her son Agnus the minotaurs, Serenissima the steam djinn, Sir Edward the living suit of armor, Pins the alive doll with quite the backstory, and his love Fish who's a hypochondriac. All take care of Castle Hangnail, which is falling apart, and isn't that scary, especially considering the friendly neighbor with a white picket fence.

If that doesn't win you over to pick this up I don't know what will. It's super cute, seeing this little girl run a castle with the minions behind her almost all the way. She has to deal with raising $1800, completing difficult tasks, and quit a cast of annoying villains. The people in the village nearby are so cute and fun, and adore Molly and the minions. I also love all the other creatures, living or mechanical, that also reside in the castle.

I could've read this faster but I got distracted. However I did read most of it in 1 sitting, and enjoyed every second of it. The only part that I cringed I didn't cringe that much. It was just too good to stop.

Definitely 5/5 stars. Hope there's a sequel cuz I want more Molly and the gang. I wanna see more of the donkey Dragon, and Bugbane, and will be sad if there isn't more.
