This book is an emotional roller coaster: heart warming, disturbing, funny in some parts, sad in others. It was a good historical fiction highlighting a brave group of women.

I really liked this one. To be fair, I saw the movie first and it really did well sticking to the book. What I liked better about the book was the closer connection I felt with the characters. The overall story is a good one.

This book was very very good. Aibileen is such an incredible fictional character, her compassion and love for Mae Mobley and all the kids she raised is amazing I want to give her a hug. Minny made me laugh almost every time she was talking, but also she had a wonderful story. Skeeter is a a great character as well, also can you give me five minutes behind a barn with Hilly. I would love to punch her. Celia is so sweet, I liked her a lot.  I think Stuart and Skeeter were a good couple, but he flipped out in the end and left sooo. Overall awesome book about life in southern states in the 50’s  I would give it a 11 out of 10 if I could.
when Minny told the story of the pie, OH MY GOSH I was dead!!! That was hilarious. Hilly deserved every single bit of that.

I don't think Stockett did a good job on providing black women with a job. The main character Skeeter is annoying and I know she is there to show how white people are sheltered and don't understand the hardships of black people especially black women. I feel like she does a good job in looking at women and sexism but it's obvious the experiences are written by a white woman who does not know a whole lot about what happens and the misogynoir black women face everyday.
