First of all, this comic was meant to be an introduction to a new series in the Assassin's Creed series. And yes, I do love every game of the series!

The comic starts with a brief segment of the life (to be more exact, the death) of the Roman ancestor of Desmond. It doesn't tell you a lot, but it is meant to introduce.

This story goes deeper in the background of Desmond Miles. When you played the first game, you get to hear how he got abducted by Abstergo. This comic shows how it went when Desmond met Lucy.
Besides that, we also get to see a lot more of the infamous 'Subject 16' (but not THAT much).

It's a nice comic, but also a bit confusing. They try to switch between Desmond and the ancestor like the first games did, while failing in doing so.

Like the games? Then you must read it!
If not... You don't have to bother...

This book is good but not great if you don’t know anything about the games you wouldn’t understand a thing, I’m excited to read the next one to see what happens next in the story

As I've seen written a lot in reviews, this comic series is clearly not suitable for people who have never played Assassin's Creed. Even as a fan, I found it hard to follow certain aspects and parts of the story made me wonder if I'd forgotten more than I thought ; apparently not, they just decided to change the beginning, middle and end of Desmond's story and adventures that lead him to the second opus of the franchise.
When I understood this, I tried to distance myself from what I know about the history of these video games, but as a result, I found that the comic lacks flavor, the graphics are not incredible (even if the landscapes are rather nice compared to the drawings of the characters).
I'll see if my opinion changes with the other volumes.

I am a huge Assassin's Creed fan. I live and breathe that video game. When I saw this comic book I was excited and hesitant at the same time. I love that theres a comic book surrounding my favorite video game, but I am always hesitant about comic books, or even just books in general, that are based off of video games or movies because they just always tend to be a disappointment. This was not the exception to that rule.

If you've never played the game before, you're going to have a very hard time understanding whats happening in this story. I felt like it was jumping all over the place and barely touched on any important aspects of the video games except for the ending of what happens both in the animus and in Desmond's story. But Desmond's story was changed as well. It was a different ending that what had happened in the video game. There was also this obscure reference to another assassin from the Roman times in the beginning of the story that didn't make sense to me at all and I felt like it added nothing to the story and was unnecessary.

I've already got the rest of the series in my possession, and that is the only reason why I will be continuing with this series. It could have been done much better in terms of the story.

I cannot lie: when I saw this on my LCS's homepage, I squeed. Loudly. I devoured this while still on the bus, and it was great. Not quite as good as what Karl Kerschl and Cameron Stewart are doing with Assassin's Creed: The Fall, but it's a retelling of the events of the first game in comic book form, with some really pretty art and some additional content.

The ending differs quite a bit from what happens in the game, so that is a bit confusing, but here are some great bits that happen in this book: we meet the mysterious Subject 16 and his successor, Desmond; we learn just how Desmond ended up at Abstergo, we meet Aquilus, who, as it seems, was the first Assassin ancestor, and there are some scenes with Altair and Malik. And on the very last page, we get a glance at Ezio <3.

A very enjoyable book, definitely recommended for fans of the game. The art is very nice to look at, and I did mention that we get to see Altair? And Malik? (I really love them.) I'm looking forward to the sequel, which is due in April, it seems.

It was a bit odd to read this in German, because I've only played the game in English. But since the original is in French, I couldn't very well read it in the original.

I didn't like this graphic novel. The story is different from that of the game and the book. It was too shot hence very rushed and I felt confused throughout reading the pages and at the end. There were too many blanks. I gave it 2 stars because I actually liked the drawing. It was done well but everything else was terrible.

I actually re-read this and I bumped it up to 3 stars instead of 2 because I'm seeing it from a different angle as it is giving the backstory of how Desmond Miles ended up at Abstergo. Still feels a bit rushed but now I see it a tad bit differently.

This was a nice summary of what happens outaide the animus in the first game. It also gives some more info I didn't know.
