It was a bit slow paced and cheesy. I liked the time travel aspect. I though it was a nice story.

This was a random book I picked up along the way and it was okay. I wanted to find out what happened at the end so I persisted.

The storyline was overall good enough to keep me reading, but this book is not a well written book at all. It’s wordy and repetitive. The main character feeling “physical and sexual attraction” and then only a few paragraphs later calling that “brotherly love” was one of many things that made me go oof and wonder why I even wanted to finish. Fortunately it’s a very quick read.

The premise of this book was compelling but reading it was painful. The writing was amateurish at best, the dialogue forced, the language stilted. It's really a shame that his editor didn't help him take a good idea and make it into something actually worth reading.

I picked up this book after reading mixed reviews. This is a good pool side book with a storyline that is sweet and engaging.
Robert Barclay has a relaxed writing style that is perfect for summer fiction.

I wanted to like this book, I really did. The premise was interesting. But, it just fell so flat.

An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my thoughts in any way.

The Widow’s Walk is a love story with supernatural elements. Boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, and oh yeah… girl is dead.

I thought this story had great promise. The idea was clever and it was a fast read. However, I think the characters lacked development. I also thought the dialog between them seemed very formal and stilted. I would expect that from Constance who’s been dead for ages but Garrett is from present time.

There are some stories you read and you can feel the love and passion between the characters but I didn’t get that from this book. I just didn't believe they loved each other enough to die for each other.

*I received a free copy of Robert Barclay's, The Widow's Walk through a giveaway from goodreads.

The author covers very metaphysical ideals and marries them into a historical context. His characters are interesting and entertaining. The setting was exactly what I was hoping for. I miss the East coast tremendously at times, and he took me back there, and allowed me to picture the fictional town of Seaside in perfect detail. He compelled me to want to read more. Furthermore, his voice is fluid and easy to read. The novel is very satisfying, in that the story is completely believable and the characters behave in the way that they should. The ending is very important to me, and when an author leads you along with a particular resolution at stake, sometimes, you just want that ending, and sometimes you are delighted to be led astray. I think that Barclay gave a suitable ending to the tale. Overall, it was a great escape.
