I put off reading this one because I wasn't sure I'd like mafia romance. But I had no issues with this book. I loved the characters and look forward to continuing this series.

There's an age gap (older man, young woman) and explicit mentioning of grooming. There's violence, attempts at murder and SA, and

the male love interest at one point finds that almost drowning his fiance is sexy

. There are BDSM themes but zero mentions of clearly stated consent, safewords, or aftercare. Also, the female main character seems very "I'm not like other girls" which made reading from her perspective a little annoying.
