I will protect those I hate, even if the one I hate the most is myself

I don’t think I have ever taken longer to finish a book. No matter how much I enjoy Sanderson and his Cosmere, this was largely a drag. I understand this was mostly centred on the internal struggles of the main characters, but it made it quite hard to go through. Love triangles are never a good idea, and the increasing reliance on religious themes didn’t help either. I know this is an epic, and the Cosmere in general is in many ways “divine” in nature, but I prefer Sanderson’s hard magic systems when they focus on the “pseudoscience” and avoid direct godly influence. But well…

Overall, I still appreciate what Sanderson is doing and I will continue with the series, but I am not as excited as a thought to push ahead. I have been enjoying each entry less and less as the series progressed, and that concerns me for what comes ahead.

Reading this as an e-book took TIME. I read this off and on from August to April. The first section of the book was a bit slow but the latter half was quick and engaging. The series keeps on giving. I cannot wait to see what else happens

I gotta say this book is just fucking awesome. I had a pretty big break in between WoR and OB but I never found any issues. This book just shows how good Brandon is with both The Magic System and Characters. He truly is a master at these arts. I will update this with a detailed review soon.
