I was expecting nothing from this book and got everything!
Quan is such an exciting character to learn about and the other books did not do him enough justice. He is fun, caring and genuinely a guy I would easily give the world to. Anna on the other hand was a little complicated and borderline frustrating, but her struggles were mine and in some ways I could relate to her.
I ended up hating Julian and Priscilla FYI, they were just unnecessary and I kind of just wanted to punch them right in the face.
Nonetheless, Helen Hoang made cry like a little baby by the end of this book and I felt connected to this love story. What an amazing read!

It was good at the start, very catching and I really like Quan and Anna. I love Quan but I think he was too patient with Anna and her inability to stand up for herself in most of the book. I think by the end of the book I was done with Anna, I preferred Quan much more and they both had problems but so much of it was about Anna. I’m glad there was character development like she finally learned to stand up for her and got help as she was very unwell and her family dynamic was a lot of the story, but I loved Quan much more, he was just so sweet. I have not read the 1st/2nd books but I did enjoy that she mentioned having autism and coming to terms with it.

Loved the first half but the second half sadly lost my attention. Nevertheless super thankful for Helen Hoang to write this book. The authors note is lovely.

This was definitely my favourite of the entire series. Anna and Quan felt so real to me, and their problems felt like they were my own, even though I can't really relate much to either.
In this novel, Hoang discusses something that I very rarely see discussed in books and that is being diagnosed and coming to terms with it. Most books I read, the characters usually already have the diagnosis and most people around them know about it already. But in this novel, Anna has no idea in the beginning, and you follow her coming to terms with it and having to "come out" to her family and friends. Big trigger warning for the discreditation of one's own experience and diagnosis.
Hoang also touches on sexual insecurities and coming to terms with your own body and loving it as it is after sickness, as Quan is.
Helen Hoang is a very good writer and she's been a big part of my understanding of the autism spectrum - specifically autism with low support needs. Although I know that everyone on the autism spectrum is different, Hoang truly makes you feel like you are in their heads, and feeling their emotions.
These topics were so important and I highly recommend this series if you're looking for a romance with heavier topics.
