The premise was interesting – Fiona comes home to find strangers are moving into her house and her ex-husband, who she shares the house with, has disappeared. We then get the back story of Fiona and her ex-husband, from buying the house, to the end of their relationship, and the events leading up to her finding strangers moving into her beloved house.
I was really intrigued by how this story was told – Fiona told her story through a podcast transcript and her ex-husband in a Word document, interspersed by what was happening in real time. I did think the first quarter started a little choppy with the format but then hit its stride. I enjoyed hearing both points of view to get an idea of what really happened but how both perceived it.
There was an interesting story here but the book was longer than it needed to be. The middle of the book dragged on too long and was marred by repetition, annoying antagonists, and bad decisions by the main characters. The end of the book picked back up and was pretty decent though.

I didn’t love this book. The ONLY reason I am giving it three stars is for the ending, which kind of fucked me up. I found it hard to concentrate on the shifting narratives/POVs between Fi’s podcast, Bram’s word document etc., and I was confused about the timeline and who was speaking when. I was able to guess some of the major plot points (which is HUGE for me because normally I am clueless) and honestly ended up skimming more than a few chapters because I was kind of bored and just wanted to get to the end. I don’t know if the end was worth it for me, but it definitely had me almost throw the book across the room — in disgust, vindication, excitement, I’m not sure.
Started strong. Loved the format of the live tweets, podcast, and diary entries. But, the ending just didn’t captivate me like the beginning seemed to promise.
Uh! The ending!! This one is not wrapped up neatly! I wish there were one more chapter (for myself, who likes stories mostly wrapped up and have an ending, not an open ending where I do not not know what happens to the characters, or can't even guess!!)
At first this was a bit hard to get into. The set up is set between Fi's interview on a show and Bram's writing after the fact, his suicide note. I like how the story is told from two different perspectives, as well as in the past and today.
Had I not been teaching summer school, I know I would have stayed up well into the night to continue reading, but had to force myself to put it down.

I enjoyed this book for the most part even though most of the characters were awful. I also have no clue what the twist was supposed to be because everything that happened was so obvious. Still, pretty good mindless read.
I DNF'd a more "respectable" novel and dove into this one. What a ride! It's not going to win big awards, but I really enjoyed the story. And even though I should've gotten the last twist (because these stories always have so many), I didn't until it was revealed and what a fun feeling to be surprised!
I seriously considered abandoning this book, but there was just enough intrigue to keep going. The last half was considerably better than the first, and even though it was a slow-starter, I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a solid, suspenseful read. 3.5 Stars

This is a thrilling read from the perspective of both the husband and wife after she arrives home to discover her house has been sold. I enjoyed how we got to see it from both sides and the gradual reveal of what happened was fast paced so I never wanted to put the book down. There are many twists and turns until you reach the end and it is full of shocking revelations that get worse each time. Overall a brilliant read that you won't be able to put down until the very end.
