This book is unhinged, violent, vulgar, provocative, and wild in the best way possible.
This dystopian/horror is the first one I have really enjoyed in a long time.
I will be thinking about this book until the apocalypse comes

Very minor spoiler: JKR gets her comeuppance.

This book was kind of what I thought it would be, but also nothing like what I thought it was! I mean that in the best way possible because I really enjoyed everything it has going on, because there was a lot. I thought it was a dystopia where a trans girl tries to find estrogen in the apocalypse and wow what an over simplification of the plot! That’s pretty much what happens but there was way more to it then that. I don’t actually want to give too much away for those who haven’t read it yet because I really liked going into it kind of blind, but it’s a group of queer people struggling to survive in an apocalypse with a virus called Trex that turns anyone with high enough levels of testosterone into violent blood thirsty monsters. It has splatterpunk vibes because it was so much violence, sex and gore I actually wasn’t expecting it from a book that has made it to the relative mainstream of horror, and the book community in general. It wasn’t only that it had some fun, funny, and emotional moments too. The ones that get more popular are usually much tamer to appeal to a wider range of people, but I love that the author went for it while still managing to get a lot of hype around her book. This was definitely not for the faint of heart check triggers, but check this book out!
