The occasional informational sections added into the story narrative both annoys and interests. It is an enjoyable book despite to insertion of historical explanations which perhaps would have been better as footnotes, something which I happen to love. However the detail of the times, some of which necessarily has to be speculative but based on modern knowledge of anthropology is very interesting. The transformation of the naive happy go lucky Ember into fierce warrior and saviour kept me wanting to know what happens next.
