I enjoyed this book though it took me quite a while to get through and sometimes felt too long (though I appreciated that the ending wasn’t rushed and that the characters’ relationship actually had time to develop and heal from difficulties).

The plot line with Beck’s mom/family did seem a little over the top and random.

But mainly, it was really refreshing to have a romance with a neurodivergent FMC whose ND traits were (mostly) not treated as problems, and I loved the emphasis on trust. It was very relatable to me how Del was frequently interrupted by anxious thoughts, and I loved how Beck was patient and helpful with processing them.

The focus on pain made the spicy scenes more challenging for me personally,

but I will probably read the second book because I liked Cordelia and Victor as characters!

This is one of those books you can't rec without including a big "BUT..."

If this was just about Del and Beck? 5 stars 10 stars 100 stars. SO good. The BDSM education? The ND rep? The gifts? 😭😭😭😭😭😭 out of this world. 

If DelBeck has a million fans, then I am one of them. If DelBeck has ten fans, then I am one of them. If DelBeck has only one fan then that is me. If DelBeck has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against DelBeck, then I am against the world.

The spice? Couldn't read it in a room full of people. You can tell there's either loads of research or loads of experience (good for you Dilan) poured into this and while it is definitely a fantasy, it is also so realistic and just like Del I was annotating this like "very interesting 🤔"

Also Del! she's just like me – an over apologising, panic attacking-having mess but also: a slut

so the rest of the book 🤠

Beck's characterisation is truly one of the messiest I've read in a while. He's this Ruthless Businessman Without Morals but he's also this absolute sweetheart who does everything he can to make Del feel safe and comfortable and encourages her to be confident in herself and her wishes. Oh and also his brother wants Beck to either a) kill her or b) forcibly impregnate and Beck's just like "haha he's so silly :)" man gave me serious whiplash

Who also gave me major whiplash is Ms. Cordelia herself. On one page you really had to root for her and see how much shit's happened to her in life and thennn she turns around and becomes this absolute bitch lmao

Yeah, the whole business deal thing?? Soo uncomfy. And there were so many secrets kept 😭 like Del felt bad because Beck didn't know she wasn't really Delilah while Beck was hiding his criminal plans from her 🙂

This all makes this book sound SO bad and don't get me wrong, parts of it were SO bad but the good parts were SO good and I am a character > plot gal! So if any of the positive parts appealed to you, I'd still wholeheartedly rec this! You just gotta be able to laugh at the rest of the absurdity.
