Once I got started, I couldn't put it down. Kae Tempest uses each word so deliberately, so that each sentence feels poetic and is packed full of astute observation. Tempest writes brilliantly about explosive sexual tension beyond heteronormative expectations, the addictive nature of attachment and jealous, and the desperation for something different for your life. The descriptions of anxiety are some of the best I've read. The portrayal of sex work is also refreshing.

While the plot may leave some people a little underwhelmed, I found the pacing to be completely gripping and the story full of cleverly woven connections. Ultimately it felt like a commentary on the powerful forces that keep people continuing on their path. I thought the tangents for side characters really rounded out the description of London in all it's diversity, while the rest of the book is a bittersweet love letter to the city that is changing rapidly under gentrification. Really enjoyed.
