LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. I couldn't put it down. Sad, funny, heart-warming, life-affirming, real. Ally Hughes is all of us, and so is Lizzie. And Jake is the guy so many of us hope to find.

Quick read. I really struggled to care about any of the characters, who just never quite seemed real to me. Why would Ally give Ted the time of day? Was there some connection between the magazine writing and anything at all? I guess I just expected more. Probably a 2.5 when push comes to shove.

I breezed through this in 2 days. I found it funny and engaging, but a small part of me felt guilty the whole time for enjoying such blatent chick-lit. I'd compare it to binge-watching Felicity. The whole time I'm watching, I know I shouldn't be so engrossed, but I can't help it. The book was just so readable! It's about a love triangle between a mother, her daughter, and her daughter's new boyfriend. Before you get creeped out, don't. It's not weird somehow. It's just fun.

Also habe ich Jules Moulins Debütroman doch gelesen.

I liked this - it was a charming, fairly silly older woman/younger man romance. Had some funny moments and a great awkward dinner party scene (which is always enjoyable to read), and a couple of steamy love scenes, too. The daughter character was SUPER irritating, as was her best friend, and the protagonist had an awful mother, also, but other than that, the characters were likeable. My one issue is that the hero is maybe just TOO perfect. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him (other than that he is way too young for the heroine at the beginning of the novel) - he always says and does the right things, and treats the heroine exactly as she deserves to be treated at every opportunity, and he is nearly everyone's ideal of a man in appearance and status, so he ends up being kind of a caricature rather than a believable human being. That said, this was a fun read, and I would recommend it if you like romance and are looking for something fun.

I wanted this story to be more than it was. I wanted Ally Hughes’s weekend fling with a former student to be a sexually empowering encounter for her. Something she did because it was what she wanted when the rest of her life was about what everyone else wanted–her daughter, her students, her boss. And at first that’s what it was...

This book was just a silly piece of fluff. The premise of the book was promising: a mother realizes her daughter is dating a man she had a fling with 10 years prior. The story did not take advantage of the plot points it started with.
