I finished this book very late at night - around 1:30am - because I just couldn't put it down. I love when a book starts as several different stories but then suddenly they intersect and the characters you were getting to know so well are now getting to know each other. I'm impressed that Mike Greenberg (an ESPN sports analyst) was able to write three such intriguing and complex female protagonists. I felt connected to these women - as though I was on the journey with them - hoping they found strength, in each other, through the winding road life placed in front of them. It made me wonder how I would fare in such a situation. Would I conceal the pain and go about as normal, would I seek out others who could commiserate, would I completely change my lifestyle and start truly living in the moment?

Mike Greenberg has two other best sellers and I will definitely read them!

Can't believe this was written by a man - and from a guy on ESPN nonetheless! I liked it a lot.

Aunt Jane, I think you would like this one. It's a quick read, and you'll have it done in no time!

This was a really great book. I picked it up because it was written by Mike Greenberg from the Mike and Mike Show on ESPN. I kept reading it because I liked it.

I especially liked Brooke. Reading other reviews I realize she is unliked by many readers. But I find her choices to be what my choices probably would be in the same situation. Enjoy the life she has now to the fullest. A year or more in agony enduring treatment isn't the way you want your family to remember you. Let them all enjoy this time of their lives instead.

I wish I didn't know who the author was when I was reading this. Between my husband and father, I am very familiar with Mike & Mike in the morning and I just couldn't believe it when I heard that Mike Greenberg wrote a novel about women. Throughout, I couldn't help but think "This is how Mike Greenberg thinks women act." Some of it rang a little false to me. I didn't really understand the Brooke ending and there was a bit of repetition, especially in her storyline. I also wish I would have known this was a book about cancer. It doesn't say that in any of the official synopses and I might have skipped over it because that isn't my favorite subject to read about.

I had a hard time remembering that the author of this book was a man. The heart felt writing and the acknowledgement of what having breast cancer truly means to a woman was spot on. I couldn't have picked a better month to read this book, with October being Breast Cancer Awareness month. There is nothing more important a woman can do for herself than to keep current with her exams.

How could one of my favorite sportscasters, who I love listening to make self-deprecating jokes and horrible NFL predictions, possibly write a good book about three women and their journeys with cancer?? He did. I'm glad I took a chance on this one. A quick, insightful read on how important our village is and how quickly life can change.

The reason that Mike wrote this book is nice, but that’s my only positive. Unfortunately, the three main characters are so cliche and one dimensional that I found myself counting down the pages until I was done. The dialogue was weak and expected. Very underwhelmed by this book.

When I first heard about this book, it sounded like an interesting story. When I heard it was written by Mike Greenberg of Mike & Mike I knew it was going on my ‘to read’ list. I expected a pretty good story. Turns out it is a VERY good story! Like many others have mentioned, I was pleasantly surprised how well the author captures the voices of the women in the story!

The story is told by three women from their alternating points of view. Samantha is a young newlywed who learns on her honeymoon that her husband is cheating. Brooke has been happily married for many years. Katherine is a high-powered Wall Street executive who has never married.

Part one of the book tells the story of these three women who have never met, and who never do meet during this part of the story. The characters are likeable and interesting. The book is really three independent stories running at once at this point, and if this was the entire book, this would be a cute story with three happy endings; basically a fun, happy book worth reading. But luckily there IS a part two because, even though I would have been satisfied with only part one, the book is so much more!

In part two, all three women are diagnosed with breast cancer at approximately the same time and all join an online support forum. It is here that they finally ‘meet’. From this point we follow the story of these women as they become friends and support each other in their battles against cancer. I like how the book shows that there is no ‘one size fits all’ treatment plan. All have different forms of cancer and different treatment options, and they make different choices about their treatments. While they do not agree about how aggressively they each want to fight their cancers, they do agree to respect each others choices.

I like how the book treated the subject of living with cancer. All three women learn to live their lives for today, and to enjoy the happy moments come along. Even though they are aware that cancer can return, they don’t stop living life. They are aware of the possibility of a recurrence but are not controlled by this possibility. This would be a great book club selection!
