This book is the perfect sequel and to ‘The Hunger Games’ and I could not put it down! Seeing the rise of the rebellion grow was so inspiring and it was written so realistically. The introduction of the past victors was cool and hearing their stories of how they won was also very cool to read. Joanna Mason will forever go down as one of my ALL TIME favorite hunger games characters and Finnick is also a plus.
The fact that this whole hunger games was part of the rebellion was amazing and how all of the tributes were in on it was so cool! I love how Katniss and Peeta didn’t know though and we find out what the plan was all along at the end.
Overall this book was amazing and I cannot wait to read the final book!

my god this book is a banger. was suzanne collins sent the story in a vision from god because i would believe that

she still very evidently has her limitations as a writer of prose and i still so desperately wish i could hand off the hunger games to any number of writers and say “write the exact same story but write it better.” but i can’t deny ms. collins was working on another level storywise with this one. worldbuilding is still strong, and the character work too.

can’t wait to get to mockingjay, which i recall being received as a letdown of a finale when it was released in my circle (of 14 year olds). i have a sneaking suspicion that mockingjay should have been two books (meaning in a roundabout way that two movies was actually correct…) but we’ll see!

I finished this book in a matter of hours. The first time I read it, I was much younger than Katniss. Now that I'm older, I can see how young and lifelike and nuanced she is. I don't know how Suzanne Collins does it, but it's so easy to see each character and fall in love with them immediately. Even the ones that we don't see for long, it's still meaningful when they're mentioned. I love the way she writes.

I forgot
how little time we actually spend in the arena
. It's so jam-packed that I remembered it more than anything else. And Peeta! When he
mentioned the baby
, I could just barely see it coming in my memory and it still absolutely shook me! I love his dramatic ass TToTT

My first reaction to reading the last pages of this book was a thrilling, pure state of shock.
“Catching Fire” is a stunning sequel to its predecessor as it twists and turns in every direction; this was actually really interesting, I thought, because it mirrors the upheaval and political unsteadinesses in the book.
I have nothing to say, really: this book is such a gripping page turner, thought-provoking and adventurous at the same time.
I’m still team Peeta, by the way.
