And I appreciate Peeta, he's not a perfect guy he ignored Katniss as much as she ignored him but I think he understands better than Gale how bad her trauma is (since he shares a lot of it) and how he's fully aware she has no intent to lead him on, it's just a horrible situation. they're both in that doesn't leave much room for romance. They're both still teenagers and I get so heartbroken how hard Katniss has been pushed by the end of the book where she doesn't think twice about
Literally the only complaint I have is like, one sentence in chapter 2 that I feel like could be worded better. Everything else is so great.

she still very evidently has her limitations as a writer of prose and i still so desperately wish i could hand off the hunger games to any number of writers and say “write the exact same story but write it better.” but i can’t deny ms. collins was working on another level storywise with this one. worldbuilding is still strong, and the character work too.
can’t wait to get to mockingjay, which i recall being received as a letdown of a finale when it was released in my circle (of 14 year olds). i have a sneaking suspicion that mockingjay should have been two books (meaning in a roundabout way that two movies was actually correct…) but we’ll see!
