I really enjoyed learning more about Michelle Obama. I found her very inspiring throughout Obama’s presidency and it was nice to learn more about her childhood and work before becoming the First Lady. She appears very intelligent, hard working, and humble. I admire her honesty and found her very relatable. I particularly liked reading about politics from her viewpoint - an outsider with an insider’s perspective. Well written.

"There's power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice. And there's grace in being willing to know and hear others. This, for me, is how we become."

I think reading this in an election year was too much for me. The idea that trump could be president again is horrifying

As with so many memoirs, the first half of this is really strong. The second half - as her life gets more sprawling and beyond her control - is less focused and jumps around a bit. (But I do understand why, of course.) The writing is good, and the narrative voice is conversational and flows easily, making this a fast and interesting read.
