This book was enjoyable but not as good as Homebound. I felt like the Lyle was a little too sweet. I'm my opinion, the way that the two characters got together in the beginning felt rushed. I didn't feel that gradual growth of attraction between Lyle and Cricket. I wish the story would have delved deeper into the differences between their species/cultures and how that impacted their relationship.
Also, Cricket made some stupid decisions throughout the story. Her choices seemed like a cheap way to move the plot along. There wasn't as much action as I was expecting.
I wanted a bigger confrontation when Cricket found out about Lyle's secrets. I wanted high tension and stakes, but something was missing.
Despite my complaints, this was still a great read! I loved the side characters and the world building. Lydia Hope built a vibrant and fascinating fictional universe!
