I loved the Stopover, but I am telling you, this book swept me away and I’m not sure I want to come back. THEIR STORY HAS ALL MY FAVORITE THINGS!!! I’m yelling, because you need to know!!
Claire, she is hard working, confident, proud and determined. A widow with 3 active boys, she shows up for her children. She works hard to keep the business she and her late husband created afloat while grieving the loss of her soulmate and trying to move forward. She has no time for a wealthy, arrogant, sweet talker. Enter, Tristan Miles.
“And what do you mean by a free pass Mr. Miles?”
“Tristan,” he corrects me.
“I’ll call you whatever I want.”
Tristan is just the ultimate vibe. He’s passionate, has a wicked sense of humor, he’s honest and caring but he drives a hard bargain. He gives Claire quite the chase and deserves serious props.
“I told you to call me Tristan”
“And I told you to away.”
What really stole my heart were Claire’s boys. The 17 year old protector (Fletcher) the 13 year old troubled child (Harry) and the 9 year old sweetheart (Patrick). TL Swan definitely gets 100 stars for creating the most accurate children I’ve ever read! I enjoyed what large, unruly roles they had in the story and they had me laughing constantly.
“Oh my god, you’re hurt,” she whispers.
I stare at her deadpan. “I wonder why.”
“Because Fletcher tried to put underpants in your throat so you would choke,” the little kid says. “Choke to death.”
-
“This kid….is fucking evil, man, I’m telling you.”
“What’s his name?”
I try to remember it. “Same as that nerdy wizard kid… the one with the glasses.” I click my fingers as I try to think.
“Who? Harry Potter?”
“Yes, that’s it. His name is Harry.”
I laughed out loud, I cried, I melted, I loved every moment of this wholesome and very sexy roller coaster and I must re-read!
