Luego de una semana, al fin terminé este pequeño libro, "La Maison de Claudine" de Colette. Y aunque he de admitir que mi nivel de francés me la puso difícil y tuve que usar el diccionario más veces de las que habría querido, disfruté de su lectura de lo lindo.

Colette logra proyectar inocencia pero picardía en cada uno de sus relatos. Se presenta a si misma sin reservas y a su madre como un personaje lleno de matices y evidentemente querido por la autora.

Muchos de sus relatos me hicieron soltar carcajadas. Sobretodo aquellos dedicados a los perros y gatos de la familia (y de esos hay bastantes) .

Si encuentran este título en español, no lo dejen pasar. Al menos a mi me hizo apreciar lo cotidiano y analizar bajo una nueva luz mis propios recuerdos de la infancia.

A French childhood, told through a collection of vignettes that describe the little quirks of a family, along with several portrays of people (and pets) who are familiar to the narrator/author, Minet-Chéri (little darling). It often touches on the transition from teenage to adulthood, and although the time-line is sometimes broken, this is a subtle and amusing account of rural life in the late 19th century.

I particularly enjoyed the tale of ‘La petite Bouilloux’, who doesn’t take the path that everyone assumes she will take. It doesn’t make her happier, but it shows that in this type of village (pre-radio, cinema and tv), rumours were what entertained people, and like our modern forms of entertainment, most of them were fake and empty...
