Good grief, Louisa has a tumultuous few years in this trilogy! Still Me feels like the space for her to finally start figuring herself out separate from Will or anyone else, and it was a hell of a journey, which I loved.

I have a huge soft spot for books set in New York because they take me right back to living there. And seeing it through the eyes of someone new to the city is fantastic. It was lovely to have Nathan play a meatier role again, and I was so pleased by the email exchanges Lou had with her family so we didn't miss their hilarious dynamic too much. Treena has great development in this book, which I feel like she so desperately needed.

The emotion is still very much there in this book, but since the end of After You there is also a lot more joy, despite the drama that befalls Lou at several turns. There are some unexpected new characters I completely fell in love with (Margot and Dean Martin are fabulous!), and plenty of time with those I'd already come to love.

I predicted some elements of the ending, but others were a delightful surprise and I absolutely loved how we got there. This book is sandwiched between two classic Lou Clark blunders at the beginning and end, and it felt like a perfect end to a fantastic series.

This trilogy did not deliver the message of women empowerment that I figured it originally was going for. After the first book, everything could have just been left at that. The next two books seem pointless and overall mixed messages on morals and themes. What were we suppose to learn here? The ending to this trilogy was disappointing and frustrating. This poor female protagonist just can never catch a real break. I understand people go through rough patches in life but where is the nice ending for this character? Don’t tell me the ending of this book is the nice ending, that’s a bunch of …. Nobody is truly rooting for this dumb insecure love interest. Going back into a toxic relationship is romantic? He’s changed? Please. Our female protagonist deserves better, and after the character development from the first book, she would concur! The next two books seemed to take that character development and slam it straight into the garbage. It’s as if the author panicked in making more content for the masses and just forgot their own character. The next two books just read as if we were keeping up on gossip and drama. Perhaps I’m not the right audience for this trilogy, and that’s totally fine, but there still should be a better moral and point for all this character development. This was a great disservice to this female protagonist. I see now why only the first book was made into a movie. Also, I think I’ve heard the word “surreptitiously” enough for the rest of my life. The overuse of that word throughout this trilogy was aggravating. It could almost be a drinking game with how often it is used in these books. All that being said, I do not regret reading this trilogy. It had potential to be better.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 - So glad I finally ticked off this book. I loved book one, found book two ok so i was worried how i would find this. But i loved it so so much - it was a perfect conclusion to Louisa Clarke's story that I didn't realise I needed. Set in New York rather then the UK with some old faces but mostly new, it opened us up to Louisa's journey of moving forward with her new beginning that she found in book 2 - sam and her career move. I adore Lou with her quirky style but I love that she is more real then most characters. She is so kind and generous but she is also flawed and someone we can connect to in those more shadowed ways. But she is brave and shows us all that we can get to our path eventually and its one heck of a journey on the way. I really enjoyed Jo Jo Moyes's writing in this series as well as in The Giver of Stars - I definitely want to read more of her!
