Ladies and gentlemen, meet my second ever DNF. I keep trying to get into this book but I absolutely can not!!!!

The FMC is such a "they hate me because i'm different boohoo" and is written so annoyingly. The second character we are introduced to is where I ended because I DO NOT NEED TO KNOW THE DETAILS OF A MANS PEE!!! Thank youuuuuu. Also, why are we still writing violent assault scenes that do nothing to further the plot? You can show how much her classmates hate her without hearing in great detail how they plan to assault her. And for what? Being blind and smart? Ew.

The intro? Interesting. Started off strong and immediately took a nosedive. One star because the cover is pretty.

Well this was new. And umm a little hard to follow. I had to slow down, pause and reread a few pages just to get the hang of it. The story takes place in Urth, similar to our own solar system but with one main change. Urth doesn't rotate on its axis. It revolves around the sun so one side is perennially frozen while the other is an inferno. It is in the middle where life can survive.

Well that's the current scenario. To divulge more would be to give out spoilers. As interesting as this book was, as I mentioned earlier, I had a lot of trouble figuring out places in my head. Not to mention mutant animals and gods inhabiting them and a journey across the land that keeps getting weirder and weirder.

A blind girl, a bat, a prince, an alchemist, a disgraced knight, a thief, a mafia boss and some secret society come together to prevent the end of the world or bring about one.

Sometimes to save the world you have to end it.

3.5 rounding up.

» The saying went that no one lived in Anvil, they only survived it.
Rhaif sighed.
How I miss it...

» Frell patted Kanthe's arm. "No reason to go to battle with my sword half-drawn." He shrugged. "I can only be put to death once, right?"

» Kanthe stared toward the open door and blew out a pained breath. "In other words, you want us to run all the way back up there? After coming all the way down?"

» They had needed each other and found each other. Here was not a song of bridling, but one of companionship, of two spirits sharing one another.
