I listened to this one as an audio book, and it was a pretty good listen. The language is of its time, and is both very intimate (it starts out following the antics of a little boy and his fascinations with the family work around him), before introducing the supernatural element. The female werewolf is an interesting take, as are some of the methods to kill one - no silver bullets, but forcing it to take the wolf shape at midnight and kill it then, or splash its feet with holy water. It takes a very obvious Christian turn, with the form of the sacrifice to kill the monster, but overall a fun and not often seen version of a werewolf story.

The opening was amazing, the build up of tension and horror was so worth it, but the rest of it was lacklustre.
