A very thought-provoking and deeply moving book. Although it’s not a true story, the author researched extensively to ensure the accuracy of the related events. This was especially reflected in the realism of the ending. It does get dark (even more so since similar things happened to millions of real life people), so be forewarned. Would highly recommend, though

viena no labākajām grāmatām, ko esmu šogad lasījusi. vienkārši līdz asarām. lasot vairākus momentus, esmu nogrozījusi galvu neticībā, man ir aizžņaugusies rīkle un palicis slikti no briesmīgajiem notikumiem, kuri bija jāpiedzīvo rumāņiem. grāmata sniedza tik lielu ieskatu rumāņu vēsturē, kuru tik sīki nepārzināju, un varu teikt, ka tieši šādas grāmatas mums ir nepieciešamas; tieši šādi stāsti ir jāstāsta. rumāņu, kuri piedalījās revolūcijā, priekšā varu novilkt cepuri un paklanīties par viņu neticamo drosmi.

"does the world know what's happening in Romania? if they did...would they do something?" </3

i thought this was much better than fountains of silence. it pulls you right in and there's always twists. the epilogue is CRAZY and the themes and messages were so good. so sad

This book was very good. It was a hard story, but very gripping and kept me wanting to read more. I appreciated the short chapters. Such an incredible story of the will to survive and fight for your country and who you are (Romanian). The end was a bit rough and hard to read, but at the same time I wanted to keep reading it to find out how it ended.
