This book was an amazing analysis of free-market capitalism and how it was undertaken through torture methods dependent on “shocks”. Literally originating from electroshock therapy, the tactics that Washington economists carried out throughout history were terrorism in their own right. Dependent on shocks such as natural disasters, economic crises, war, disease, and even engineered ones, this book really showcased how evil and bloody the crusade for capitalism has been. Truly such an important read for everyone, and even more important as America is literally going through disaster capitalism and shock techniques today. Can’t stress enough how sinister capitalistic ventures can be, but alas, like the conclusion of this book showcases, people and democratic socialism can overcome even the worst histories.

I found the book extremely informative, but also written in that journalistic propaganda style that makes you feel like you're not getting much that might challenge Klein's viewpoint (even though I generally agree with the dangers of neoliberalism).

I fear I learnt more from this book than my entire degree. I want to be Naomi Klein when I’m older please!
