Another hilarious installment in the Class Mom series. I hope I am this cool if I ever have kids. My only complaint is that this one felt really short - maybe I was just thirsting for more - who knows. Yoga Pant Nation picks up for Max's 5th grade year and his last one at his beloved elementary school. Besides being class mom (again), Jen Dixon has also been tasked with leading the fundraising committee and needs to raise $10k by the end of the year. As if that isn't enough she is babysitting her granddaughter 3 days a week, teaching spin classes, and worrying over her parents who have seemed to aged very quickly. Lots of fun and quick humor. I love this series and can't wait for the fourth installment!
The third (and final?) book in the Class mom series. In this book, Jenn's youngest son Max (her surprise baby after already having two grown daughters) is now in his final year of elementary school (Gr. 5). Jenn's life is filled with her ambition to be a spin class instructor, taking care of her 2 year old granddaughter part time and heading the fundraising committee for the end of the year class trip. Still full of Gelman's trademark mom humor and witty jokes. Anyone who has had to suffer through fundraising hell is going to appreciate this book a lot. A solid finale that is more about mid-life women's problems than younger mom's problems. If you enjoyed the first two books you will likely love this one too. Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan audio for my advanced listening review copy.
A fast, easy funny read! A must read for former class moms or any mom for that matter! I've read all of her class mom books!
This is just a fun, feel good series. I don't know why I like it. I am not a mom, don't want to be and I abhor yoga. My biggest form of exercise is jumping to conclusions. But it's a fun, light read, and sometimes you just need to read to enjoy something, not because of any depth. And that's what this is. Light, snarky, funny with accurate school politics (those I do understand as a teacher). It's been fun to see Max grow up, Jen become a GiGi, and the easy story line progress. I will read anything Laurie Gelman writes; it feels like curling up for a good gossip session.
I really enjoyed this one.
I think the second book in the Class Mom series went off the rails a bit, but this one brought the voice back to Jen Dixon that we all know and love.
This one had about the same pacing as the first one, but all of the balls Jen is juggling keeps you interested until the very end.
What I love about this series is that it is relatable even if you are not a mom yourself.
I expect this to be the last Class Mom book in the series as Max is now old enough to age out of needing a "class mom" at all, so I will definitely miss Jen and the whole gang.
