Jen Dixon is the class mom that everyone wants. Her son Max is graduating from elementary school, so this is her last time to be roped into class mom. But wait, there’s more! The PTA Queen decides Jen needs a bigger challenge, so she promotes her to fundraising chairperson. Last year’s goal was $2000, which they just missed, leaving its chair with a nervous tic. This year it has been upped to $10,000 and of course Jen has no idea where to start. Last year’s bake sale in the gym seemed a good initial effort, until the outdoor petting zoo being held the same day had to be moved inside to the gym also, due to a storm.
Unfortunately, I opted for the ebook instead of the audio book this time, so I missed all the nuance that the author adds in her excellent reading. I may have to go back just for that.
There was only one glaring error in this book. On Jen’s trip to Memphis, she went to Rendezvous “where I had the best barbecue of my life.” From that statement alone, it was easy to verify that the author had never actually eaten any of the local KC BBQ. I’ve had both and would gladly turn down a free banquet at Rendezvous for nothing more than a spoonful of cheesy corn and a single burnt end from any place in KC.

I just binged all three books back to back and I think I’m going to have withdrawals until the summer when the fourth book comes out. I need to get my hands on it like NOW! I love that the author is the narrator, gives the words more flavor. She is H I L A R I O U S ! I’m only 25 but I feel like my “old soul” can relate so much to her writing and being a boy mom I can get a glimpse of what I’m in for when I inevitably volunteer for class mom. Thank you for writing these books, this read was much needed.

If you have ever been a school parent you will greatly enjoy this hilarious series!
These books are so much fun. And she is Canadian. Thoroughly enjoyed the audio book. Highly recommend. They are light but not at all the typical chick lit. The main character can actually be fit, not do stupid things, they are realistic situations very well told.
2.5 stars
Note: I received this as an Advanced Read Copy from the publisher for free. I haven't read any of the previous books in the series.
This was a quick read, with a light and humorous tone. Unfortunately, the main character Jen Dixon seems to be the poor man's Bernadette Fox (from the book [b:Where'd You Go, Bernadette|13526165|Where'd You Go, Bernadette|Maria Semple|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1338822317l/13526165._SY75_.jpg|17626728])--complete with snarky emails (though she is actually engaged in her child's school, which obviously is not really true for BF). So with that comparison in my mind, this didn't seem very fresh or as funny to me. Sometimes I had to skim through a few passages when Jen was grating on me. Maybe I would have liked it more if I hadn't read WYGB? Hard to say.
Even though I felt like the main character in this book missed the mark for me, it was refreshing to read something light and breezy that wasn't centered on a romance. I think some people will find this quite funny, but for me, it was just okay. There is a bit of profanity / sexual humor, but otherwise no violence / sexual content.

I can't believe this book was over 250 pages. It honestly was the fastest read I've had this year. Yes, you need to read the first two before reading this one (there are zero character introductions, you are just thrown into the mix). Yes, it's complete fluff. What should have been big issues on being the sandwich generation - parents fading, raising adult children/teens and grandkids - were tied up neatly and with ease. Even the "big bad" of Crazy Cindy was kind of a one note (and yes, I hate that the book called her Crazy Cindy). This book wasn't bad, nor was it good. it just WAS. If you've read a lot of heavy books, go ahead and read the Class Mom series.
