TW: teenage drinking, mild concussion, trauma from a family member being incarcerated is mentioned
I picked this up on a Stuff Your Kindle day. I didn't have any expectations coming into this, and I'll admit the main female protagonist Remi was hard to enjoy at times. Whilst most of her actions could be marked down as typical self-centric teenage behaviour, I did find her unlikeable in the beginning especially. Remi does have some character growth, which I did appreciate. I enjoyed the fact that there hadn't been any previous romantic pining - they both thought of the other as their best friend until the kiss.
Overall though this was just okay. There were small inconsistencies throughout with both story and character development that did make me question some choices made and I didn't get overly invested in any of the characters. However, the pacing was okay, and all the obstacles presented resolved well enough.

~ Cute, Sweet Contemporary ~
This is my second book by Sarah Sutton and definitely not my last!! Her writing is great, her stories are engaging and fun, and her characters are always top tier!!
•
This was a really nice, cute story and I loved it!! My only complaint was the middle seemed to drag a tiny bit, but no other problems besides that!
•
Highly recommend and I can’t wait to continue through the rest of Sarah’s backlog!

Ahhh what can I say. I'm just such a sucker for best friends to lovers slowburn. Its soo good. The only thing I didn't like about this book that sometimes it really was drama overload, but all drama that felt so inconsequential. But oh well. That's YA for you.

Where to even start? This book was AMAZING and such a great read during a stressful time. If you’re looking for a light-hearted contemporary with a dash of romance and wit, you need to pick up WhatAre Friends For?

Like candy! I’m probably going to read the whole series in a day.

This was such a cute story, I loved it. I’ve noticed that I read books that sort of parallel my life in a way. Remi and Elijah’s friendship, reminded me of my friendship with my guy friend of 14 years. Although, we weren’t grade school best friends, we knew each other likes, dislikes, etc, just like Remi and Elijah knew about other’s likes and dislikes, etc. In the story, Remi and Elijah’s started out as grade school best friends, who at a party kissed each other unknowingly and found out that they had a spark between each other. I loved the way the author descriptions of scenes took me to the places she described. The description of the kisses between Elijah and Remi where so passionate it was like woah, baby. I really enjoyed this read and I can’t want to read Sarah’s next book “Out of My League.”

I hoped the first book I read from this author and series would be a fluke and the others might be more my speed, but this book confirmed that I probably shouldn't pick up another.
First, the writing style and I don't jive. Reading and staying engaged with the source material took several days because I was dragged through the story instead of wholly invested. I find that the angst wasn't executed well and thus didn't have the impact intended.
Second, the main characters are awful. Eli and Remi could've solved all their teen angst with a single conversation and some much-needed honesty, but then the author wouldn't have been able to milk the source material. Eli had a girlfriend for about 80% of the book but knew he kissed his best friend at the party, and Remi knew she kissed him at the party. A better setup would've had the reader find out the identity of the kisser with the characters at a later time, setting up for better pacing.
Third, the conflict at the end with Savannah had a piss poor resolution. I'm sorry, but I would legitimately be in prison for my reaction to a girl derailing my graduation/getting me accused of cheating, regardless of how sad she seemed. There is no universe where someone would ask her to go shopping and be besties afterward. Ugh.
I probably won't pick up this author's books anymore, but that's just me. I'm sure there's a reader who'll like these things.
