I cannot mentally or physically comprehend how fantastic this book was. WAY better than the first book (Which is saying something because the first book knocked my socks off) and I am unable to wait for the next book. What do you mean I have to wait a year? While reading, I filled up my book with post it notes, theories and conspiracies which added a whole new level to he enjoyment of this book.
I wish I could go to Ellingham.
I wish I could go to Ellingham.
Definitely a little weaker than the first, but I still enjoyed it.
3.75/5 stars
Can't wait to finally be able to read The Hand on the Wall!

A mystery within a mystery within a mystery. (Is that all the mysteries involved? It seems to go on for another few mysteries... I love it) I love it. The story is so simple at times that as I'm trying to figure out who did what, I'm so close to the solution but am still wrong by like a half a point. I get some details right but others wrong and its so weirdly satisfying. And not. Because this is a series and the story must go on. I'm just so ready for the next book, I'm so compelled to figure out all the mysteries and the characters. This is so well constructed, the plot, that I'm so awed by the simplicity (yet complexity).
It is like Maureen Johnson has the same thoughts as the reader as if she's the reader instead of the author who constructed the whole story. She knows how to lead the readers through the book's mystery of this blown out crime. And then she twists everything you think you know. And she has no problem killing multiple characters and it's glorious. I just enjoyed this so much. I did not look too far into why I love it so much besides the fact that I'm eagerly waiting for the next installment.
this is just a gushing review and I am not really sorry.

This wasn’t a bad book, it just didn’t have the same feel as the first one. It felt kind of like a filler for the series, because the first book was definitely better. Not much happened until the last 150 pages, so most of this was boring and i considered not finishing the series after this book because I didn’t want to read it anymore.
But then when it got to the plot twist, the book picked up and it was interesting and fast paced, just like the first book was. Maybe part of the problem was that I read this a month after reading the first book, and the story just picks up again very quickly, and the first chapters were a lot of information that was kind of confusing, because I hardly remembered much from the first book.
I think that I will keep reading the series, because of how much of a cliffhanger this left on, just like the first and u need to know what happens. These books are easy to read and the characters are likable. 3 stars, not bad
